Click to join dogquirksadvocacy We are a small group of enthusiasts interested in improving conditions for dogs with behavior problems. We think strategically, pool ideas, write and publish, and take action to effect positive change on behalf of dogs and their families, and service providers such as shelters, veterinary practices, training and daycare centers. We embrace current best-practice thinking and diverse theoretical models and methods that might shed light on problems. We are committed to an agenda that is both people-friendly and dog-friendly. Lynn Hoover's 2010 book, *Dog Quirks and Behavior Solutions*, offers a broad perspective on social justice issues that impact on dogs, their families, and all the social systems involved in their care. Other perspectives are welcome as long as they promote both people-friendly and dog-friendly agendas. Contributors will be cited if their ideas are published. We want to be effective and humane and state-of-the-art in our practices and recommendations. Participants are not, however, bound to political correctness. Members may be asked to define their position and defend their points of view on various issues, but a wide range of ideas can be put forth for discussion. The list will be moderated. We don’t fear a free flow of ideas; just want to be as productive as possible and don’t want to get sidetracked. The list is open to anyone wanting to advocate for dogs with issues, within the parameters outlined above and upon approval by moderators. All communications on the list must be held confidential and are not to be sent off-list without permission from authors.
